The aim of the compulsory internship is for students to observe, learn how the theoretical knowledge acquired throughout their undergraduate studies is applied in professional life, determine the sub-field they want to specialize in in the future, gain experience, and in short, be better prepared for the profession they have chosen. The compulsory internship period to complete the undergraduate program is 20 working days. Compulsory internships are carried out in the summer months when students move on to the seventh semester.

CO-OP Practice
Industrial Applied Training (CO-OP) is offered to students of departments other than Psychology in the 8th term of their education (14 weeks) to prepare them for the business world by actually working in companies. It is a university–business cooperation-based education model that aims to integrate theoretical knowledge with working life. CO-OP training consists of uninterrupted work carried out entirely at a single company/institution. Students who are prepared for working life through CO-OP training thereby minimize the learning period at their workplace after graduation.
The benefits of CO-OP for students can be listed as follows:
- They get the opportunity to apply what they learned in class in the field.
- They deepen their professional experience, perception and awareness.
- They form their career and life plans and clarify their post-graduation goals.
- They may find the opportunity to continue working at the institution where they worked after graduation.
- Through continuous and real business communication, they improve their interview and negotiation techniques and develop a vision.
- Their self-confidence increases and they develop their ability to express themselves.
- They improve their organization and time management skills.
- They start earning income while still students and increase their financial awareness.
- While still students, they acquire a professional identity and business cards.
- They build a good network through sectoral connections.
- They add one year of professional work experience, with real experience details, to their CVs.
- Unlike other graduates, they start their working lives with both a prestigious diploma and the advantage of having gained professional experience at a quality institution.
CO-OP Supervision Board (CO-OP DEK)
It is the board formed by the relevant Dean’s Office to coordinate and supervise the implementation of CO-OP training, and it performs the following tasks:
- It ensures coordination among the university, business/institution, department and student.
- It prepares customizations and revisions to the protocols suited to departments, companies and fields.
- It makes suggestions on academic programs, courses and contents according to the needs and demands of industries.
- It provides counseling services so that students can shape their career goals in line with their talents and the needs of the business world.
- It informs institutions about the university’s academic programs.
- When necessary, it reviews the program and especially the practices, identifies problems and makes change proposals to the Dean’s Office.
- Giving priority to Gaziantep, it identifies and lists businesses/institutions in Türkiye and abroad where CO-OP training can be carried out, continuously updates them, and announces them on the web page.
