Biography
I joined Hasan Kalyoncu University (Gaziantep, Turkey) as an associate professor of political science and international relations in December 2016. Prior to this position, I was with the Department of Political Science at Yeditepe University in Istanbul (2002-2016). For an academic year between 2013 and 2014, I was a visiting scholar in the Department of the Languages and Cultures of the Near and Middle East at SOAS, University of London. I concluded my doctoral dissertation on Turkish political thought under supervision of Professor Feroz Ahmad. A revised version of my dissertation "State and Intellectuals in Turkey: Life and Times of Niyazi Berkes" was published by Rowman/Lexington in 2015. I hold a master's degree in international economics from Yeditepe University (2004) and a bachelor's degree in political science from Boğaziçi University (2000). My works on populism, nationalism, ethnicity and intellectual history of Turkey were published in Nations and Nationalism, Government and Opposition, and History of Sport. I am currently working on Syrian refugees in and around Gaziantep.
